828 Tech workers and French speakers in the new PNP draw of Ontario were invited by Ontario on February 8, from Express Entry candidates.

622 of the invitations went to eligible Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream, with a CRS score between 463 and 467. A minimum of one year of work experience with the following NOC codes was needed:

· 0213 Computer and information systems managers

· 2147 Computer engineers

· 2172 Database analysts and data administrators

· 2173 Software engineers and designers

· 2174 Computer programmer and interactive media developers

· 2175 Web designers and developers

The remaining 206 invitations belonged to French-Speaking Skilled Worker (FSSW) stream, for candidates with the same CRS score (463-467) CLB of minimum 7 in French language and 6 in English language.

2025 Update—As of May, the Ontario government has reported only one draw. It happened on January 15, and it was a small one—just four invitations. These were issued through the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream. The invitations targeted individuals who may qualify for the federal Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot, which supports skilled refugees seeking permanent residency in Canada.

This early pattern doesn’t necessarily set the tone for the rest of the year—immigration numbers can change quickly, and Ontario often adapts its priorities as federal quotas and labor needs evolve. Still, it’s a notable shift from the 2024 trend, where tech workers and French-speaking applicants featured more prominently early in the year.
