2025 Update

Back in August 2022, the fifth Express Entry draw was held. Here were the results:

  • Date: August 31, 2022
  • Number of Invitations to Apply (ITA): 2,750
  • Cut-off CRS Score: 516
  • Program: All Express Entry programs

That draw marked a small drop in the CRS cut-off compared to the one before it, continuing the trend as draws resumed that summer.

Here’s a recap of the first five rounds since they started up again on July 6, 2022:

Fast forward to 2025, and the Express Entry system looks a little different. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) started using new selection categories aimed at addressing specific workforce needs — not just general high scores. For example, candidates with strong French skills or experience in certain job sectors, like trades or healthcare, are now getting more attention in the draws.

Here’s a look at some of the draws so far this year:

What’s different now? The draw types have become more targeted. It’s not only about a high score anymore — language ability, job experience in certain industries, and nomination by a province can all make a big difference.
