Canada is to remove the vaccine requirement for all travelers which means:
- Travelers will no longer need to submit public health information through the ArriveCAN app or website
- Travelers will not need to provide proof of vaccination
- Travelers will no longer need to undergo testing before/upon their arrival
- Travelers will no longer need to isolate themselves due to COVID-19
- Travelers will no longer need to monitor if they develop signs or symptoms of COVID-19 upon arriving in Canada
In addition, travelers will not need to wear masks on flights or trains within Canada.
2025 Update—As of 2025, not much has changed when it comes to traveling to Canada. All the COVID-19 travel restrictions that were dropped back in October 2022 are still gone. You don’t need to show proof of vaccination or go through testing before or after your trip. Quarantine is off the table, too, and you can skip the whole monitoring symptoms routine.
ArriveCAN is still optional. You don’t need to use it to enter Canada anymore, but it does have a little perk if you feel like it—using the Advance Declaration feature can save you some time at customs in certain airports.
The government strongly suggests using a well-fitted mask or respirator, especially when you’re in crowded or enclosed spaces.
Things have pretty much settled down, but officials are keeping an eye on things. It’s worth checking for updates regarding visa and travel rules before you travel, just to be safe.
