A surprise Express Entry draw was held on January 18 and 5,500 candidates were issued invitations. The minimum CRS score was 490.
For this round of invitations, candidates were invited from all the programs under the Express Entry system: Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and the Federal.
Understanding the Tie-Breaking Rule
If multiple candidates have the same lowest score, IRCC uses a tie-breaker to decide who gets an invitation. Priority is given to those who submitted their Express Entry profile earlier. This ensures a fair selection process by rewarding applicants who have been in the pool longer.
Important: Updating your profile does not change your original submission date. However, if you withdraw and resubmit, your new submission date will count, which could impact your chances in future draws.
