In Ontario’s second draw of the year on October 27, 1406 Express Entry candidates were invited to apply for Ontario’s Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream. These candidates have professional tech background with a CRS score of 455 to 467.

One year of work experience in the following occupations is required:

  • Computer and information systems managers (NOC 0213)

  • Computer engineers (NOC 2147)

  • Database analysts and data administrators (NOC 2172)

  • Software engineers and designers (NOC 2173)

  • Computer programmer and interactive media developers (NOC 2174)

  • Web designers and developers (NOC 2175)

Those who receive the nomination from Ontario will automatically get an additional 600 CRS points toward their overall score in the Express Entry system.

The education requirement for these candidates is a bachelor’s degree or higher, or an equivalent of international credentials.

What Is PNP (Provincial Nominee Program)?

Provinces and territories (PTs) that operate a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) can nominate candidates through the Express Entry pool, in addition to nominating foreign nationals to the existing paper-based process.

Candidates who have a PT nomination receive an additional 600 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which usually guarantees they will receive an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residence in the next Express Entry draw.

PNPs offer a pathway to Canadian permanent residence for those who are interested in immigrating to a specific Canadian province or territory.

How to Know if I Qualify for a PNP if I Don’t Qualify for Express Entry?

Most Provincial Nominee Programs require that applicants have an active profile in the Express Entry pool. However, in some cases, it is possible that some provinces issue nominations to applicants who do not have Express Entry eligibility. Since the eligibility requirements vary for these programs, it is best to consult with a licensed immigration representative to discuss your eligibility.
