International Experience Canada (IEC) program is open now!

International Experience Canada (IEC) program is a great opportunity for the international youth to come to Canada from abroad and gain fascinating work and life experiences in the Canadian culture.

Now Is Your Chance to Apply for IEC

As the minister of Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship, the Honorable Sean Fraser announced, the International Experience Canada (IEC) program is currently opened to all international youth interested in living and gaining new experiences in the Canadian culture and the land of opportunities for the international youth.

Note: Those who already applied for this program will receive invitations soon!

90,000 Spots Available

As announced on December 1, 2022, Canada is welcoming close to 90,000 international youth to travel and work in Canada and explore new cultures and learn new languages. This is also a great opportunity for the youth to stay in Canada and work for employers with labour shortage across the country.

2025 update—The International Experience Canada (IEC) program is now open for the 2025 season, giving young people from over 35 partner countries the chance to live and work in Canada.

What’s New for 2025?

Applications Are OpenIf you’re eligible, you can now submit your profile to enter the IEC pools. Invitations to apply for work permits will be sent out in rounds, so applying early could increase your chances of getting selected.

Three Ways to Participate

    • Working Holiday – No job offer is required. This option allows you to work with different employers across Canada.
    • Young Professionals – If you already have a job offer that helps you build your career, this stream is for you.
    • International Co-op (Internship) – If you’re a student who needs work experience as part of your studies, this category lets you gain hands-on training in your field.

Important Change: No More “Flagpoling”

As of December 23, 2024, IEC participants can no longer activate their work permits by briefly leaving and re-entering Canada. You’ll now have to activate it through other official channels.
