Express Entry Rounds of Invitations

At SEP Immigration, we handle complex immigration cases. We help clients understand government selection processes.

The government invites candidates from the pool to apply in rounds throughout the year. They choose them based on points under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

Latest Round

The most recent selection targets Physicians with Canadian Work Experience, 2026-Version 1. Here are the exact details of this draw:

  • Date and time: June 24, 2026 at 14:00:30 UTC
  • CRS score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 223
  • Number of invitations issued: 271
  • Rank needed: 271 or above
  • Tie-breaking rule: May 31, 2026 at 18:13:49 UTC

If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.

You can review the CRS score distribution of candidates in the pool as of June 21, 2026.

The government recently noted: "We’ve resolved an issue affecting invitations for the Express Entry French-language proficiency round (#418, May 28, 2026). If you were eligible, you should now have been invited."

How the Rounds Work

The government follows these exact steps for official draws:

  1. "We choose the type of round we’ll hold."
  2. "We decide the number of candidates we need to invite."
  3. "We identify the highest-ranking candidates from the pool who are eligible for the chosen round type."
  4. "We invite these candidates to apply for permanent residence."

Types of Rounds of Invitations

The government holds different types of rounds of invitations throughout the year. You must be eligible for 1 of the 3 programs managed through Express Entry to be placed in the pool.

1. General rounds of invitations These rounds invite top-ranking candidates in the pool who are eligible for 1 of the 3 programs managed through Express Entry.

2. Program-specific rounds of invitations These draws invite top-ranking candidates who are eligible for a specific Express Entry program. For example, if a round specifically targets the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), only candidates eligible for the PNP receive invitations.

3. Category-based rounds of invitations The Minister establishes a category to meet a specific economic goal. The government then invites top-ranking candidates in the pool who are eligible for this category.

Candidates with a provincial or territorial nomination continue to receive invitations through general and Provincial Nominee Program-specific rounds.
