Latest Express Entry Draw: IRCC Invites 4,500 French-Speaking Candidates

Professional reviewing Express Entry immigration documents

Canada invites candidates from the pool to apply in rounds throughout the year. The government chooses applicants based on points under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). We analyze these results to build reliable immigration strategies.

Latest Round: French-Language Proficiency

The most recent draw targeted specific language skills. The category was French-Language proficiency 2026-Version 2. Honest advice requires looking closely at these exact figures.

  • Date and time: May 28, 2026 at 10:52:36 UTC
  • CRS score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 409
  • Number of invitations issued: 4,500
  • Rank needed: 4,500 or above
  • Tie-breaking rule: April 29, 2026 at 22:20:00 UTC

If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.

How the Rounds Work

The selection process follows strict administrative steps. First, the government chooses the type of round they will hold. Next, they decide the number of candidates they need to invite.

Then, they identify the highest-ranking candidates from the pool. These individuals must be eligible for the chosen round type. Finally, they invite these candidates to apply for permanent residence.

Types of Rounds of Invitations

Canada holds different types of rounds of invitations throughout the year. The system uses three distinct selection methods.

1. General rounds of invitations The government invites top-ranking candidates in the pool. These individuals must be eligible for 1 of the 3 programs managed through Express Entry.

2. Program-specific rounds of invitations These draws invite top-ranking candidates who are eligible for a specific Express Entry program. For example, a round might occur specifically for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

In that scenario, the government would only invite candidates who are eligible for the PNP. Proper representation is critical for these specific applications.

3. Category-based rounds of invitations The Minister establishes a category to meet a specific economic goal. The government then invites top-ranking candidates in the pool who are eligible for this category.

You must be eligible for 1 of the 3 programs managed through Express Entry to be placed in the pool.

Candidates With a Provincial or Territorial Nomination

Many applicants secure a provincial or territorial nomination to strengthen their profile. The government will continue to invite these candidates through general and Provincial Nominee Program-specific rounds.
