Canada invites candidates from the pool to apply in rounds throughout the year. The selection relies on points under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). SEP Immigration monitors these updates to give clients honest advice.

Latest round

The most recent draw targeted Senior managers with Canadian Work Experience, 2026-Version 1. The date and time was July 10, 2026 at 10:42:46 UTC. The CRS score of lowest-ranked candidate invited was 392.

The number of invitations issued was 500. The rank needed was 500 or above. The tie-breaking rule was March 15, 2026 at 01:46:05 UTC.

If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.

The government also released the CRS score distribution of candidates in the pool as of July 5, 2026.

Furthermore, they resolved an issue affecting invitations for the Express Entry French-language proficiency round (#418, May 28, 2026). If you were eligible, you should now have been invited.

How the rounds work

The government follows a strict process for each draw.

  1. They choose the type of round they will hold.
  2. They decide the number of candidates they need to invite.
  3. They identify the highest-ranking candidates from the pool who are eligible for the chosen round type.
  4. They invite these candidates to apply for permanent residence.

Types of rounds of invitations

The government holds different types of rounds of invitations throughout the year.

1. General rounds of invitations

They invite top-ranking candidates in the pool who are eligible for 1 of the 3 programs managed through Express Entry.

2. Program-specific rounds of invitations

They invite top-ranking candidates who are eligible for a specific Express Entry program. For example, a round specifically for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) only invites candidates eligible for the PNP.

3. Category-based rounds of invitations

The Minister establishes a category to meet a specific economic goal. They then invite top-ranking candidates in the pool who are eligible for this category.

You must be eligible for 1 of the 3 programs managed through Express Entry to be placed in the pool.

The government will continue to invite candidates with a provincial or territorial nomination through general and Provincial Nominee Program-specific rounds.
