updated test requirements for travellers

From February 28, no quarantine will be required from fully vaccinated travelers coming to Canada holding an approved antigen test (taken at most 24 hours before arrival) and from children who are not vaccinated.

Also, no quarantine time is required while waiting on the results of tests upon arrival.

PCR test result, within 72 hours before arrival, is still acceptable.

Documents still have to be uploaded via the ArriveCAN app before entering the country.

Travelers who are not vaccinated have to do a test upon arrival and be quarantined for 2 weeks.

2025 Update: Current Travel Rules for Entering Canada

Travel to Canada looks different in 2025 compared to just a few years ago. All COVID-19-related border restrictions have been lifted.

Travellers no longer need to show proof of vaccination, pre-entry and arrival testing requirements have been scrapped, and quarantine rules have been abolished.

Even the ArriveCAN app, once mandatory for all incoming passengers, is now optional—though it may still speed up customs clearance at certain airports.

Some provinces or territories may still have their own public health measures. It’s important to check local requirements carefully before departure, as these can change without much warning.

At the federal level, however, entry into Canada in 2025 is more straightforward than at any point since early 2020.
