2000 candidates were invited to apply for permanent residency in the latest Express Entry draw on August 3, 2022.The CRS (Comprehensive Rankingking System) score was at least 533, which is 9 points lower than the previous one. Hopefully, the cut-off score will keep going down.
A total of 2,000 invitations to apply for permanent residence were sent out. While that number was already shared widely, what often gets overlooked is the timestamp that helped determine who made the cut.
The tie-breaking rule—something not everyone pays attention to—was set for January 6, 2022, at 14:29:50 UTC. This means anyone who scored exactly 533 on the Comprehensive Ranking System needed to have submitted their profile before that time to get an invitation.
The draw took place at 15:16:24 UTC. A seemingly small detail, but in Express Entry, timing can be everything. A matter of minutes—or even seconds—might decide whether a candidate receives an invitation or waits for the next round.
This draw included applicants from all Express Entry programs without separating by category. That’s significant. It was only the fifth all-program draw since IRCC resumed them after a pause during the pandemic. For nearly a year and a half, draws had focused on specific groups, but this broader return signals a shift in how selections are made.
Canada uses Express Entry to manage applications for permanent residence under programs like the Federal Skilled Worker Program and Canadian Experience Class. Candidates are ranked using a points system based on skills, work experience, education, and other factors.
